And they are! When a proper living condition is given to people, they will not become terrorists. It is not inborn aspect of humans. But when they are forced to live with violence, they will choose that path. Ultimately they want to live. Quite simple things lead to this sort of violence and wars.

It makes me remember the story of Troy: It's all mistakes there. First, Paris made the mistake of smuggling Helen; then Hector makes the mistake of not returning her honorably. Then again Paris makes the mistake of fighting a duel and then running off as a coward, sparking a whole war.

It's just this, mistakes by ignorant people that cause all this trouble. And humans are very prone to mistakes.

Re: Dangerous Independence

Exactly.. We talk about making India at par with developed nations, but for that we need to check our own fundamentals too.. and accept some responsibilities. Yet, apne ghar ki gandagi mein haath gande kaun kare!.

Its just like that. Sadly.

Re: Dangerous Independence

You know Rajat, rights come with responsiblities. We all want the rights, do not want to take responsiblity - from our leaders right down to us citizens. This is what creates the lame responses ...... OMG I could go on and on.

Re: Dangerous Independence

Terror occurs because we allow it to happen. It is because dependent on another individual or organization to be responsible for us (govt., police, etc.). It occurs because we turn a blind eye to the things that happen right in front of us. We know the person who has come next door is not right, yet we don't inform the police thinking it not be "our business". We allow the media to sensationalize the news and spread further distraught.
It has absolutely nothing to do with independence. It is because we are most vulnerable and emotional.
We debate, weep and feel sorry for the ones we lost and then get back to our daily lives as if nothing happened. We have made terror a part of our lives and refuse to acknowledge the fact that human civilization is on the brink of destroying itself and it is only we, as citizens of the world, stand together can we face this threat with courage and strength. They want to see us fall. Let us rise and behead them

Re: Dangerous Independence

As the discussion takes place here, news of two more blasts has come up. One in Sambarkantha, Gujarat and the other in Malegaon, Maharahtra

Re: Dangerous Independence

I agree with you. Terrorists are not in India *only*.. They are present the world over. However, to make things clear, I will have to add something in here.

We are independent, and allowed to take our own decisions. BUT, if we had taken some *better* decisions, this situation may not be as worse. We talk about improving our internal security *after* a slew of terror attacks. Shouldn't it have been done earlier, taking cues from Iraq and 9/11? That's where, I think, our independence falters.

Re: Dangerous Independence

Hmm... it is sad that some are misusing the idea of Independence. But I dont think that remark is totally true. Co-relation between Independence and Terrorism is not clear here - what about UK? That country has been never dependent on any country...then why is it in the shadow of terrorism?
2. I would rather look it from this side - We are independent and really doing good - some people do not want that...every big thing entails big hurdles...these are hurdles...and you know what? I still trust my government...I am sure there would have been many instances when they would have diffused many bombs and saved many lives but they can not talk about it else it will create mayhem...

And I am sure they are trying...its just they are not able to control things...our disillusionment with them will only make them weak...

Disclaimer - these are my own thoughts and none of my relatives or any acquaintances work in police department. :)

Re: Dangerous Independence

you know, it probably all boils down to the bureaucracy and poor communication b/w the several Indian intelligence agencies
